WAYNE WHELESS PHOTOGRAPHY
Wayne Wheless was born in Atlanta, Georgia
in 1970. Coming from a family of drummers it was no surprise to any
when he picked up his own pair of sticks at the age of fourteen. As a
result of refining his craft and paying his dues, Wayne
was given the opportunity to be the opening act for the Damn Yankees at
an outdoor concert in Atlanta during his early twenties.Soon afterward
Wayne set his mind upon learning his favorite sport—ice hockey—and in
1993 he strapped on his first pair of skates. After a lot of
perseverance and dedication toward teaching himself to skate, he joined
a local team in 1994 and thus fulfilled another dream.
Wayne uses a Canon EOS 30D, Vanguard tripod,
Manfrotto monopod, Tiffen and Cokin filters, Quantaray lenses, and a
Tamrac camera pack.
When he was suddenly
afflicted with near-fatal kidney failure in his late twenties Wayne
began to take stock of his life, and after a full recovery, he moved
west to Colorado where he fell in love with the surrounding countryside
and all of its offerings.
Shortly upon arrival Wayne joined a local
hockey league where he became the Captain of his own team. He continued
to play the drums for such local bands as Bodragaz and The Kuzins Band.
After several years of non-stop play, Wayne decided to take a break
from his sticks, and took up photography. It was while partaking of
this hobby that he came to realize he received personal fulfillment
from capturing the spirit of his new home, and the states surrounding
it, with his camera.
